It all started out so innocently. A little
boy with incredible strength (as well as stupidity) journies with a teenage
girl, a shape-changing pig, and a few other companions to find seven mystical
dragon- balls. When all seven are placed together, the great dragon appears
and grants the owner one wish.
Akira Toriyama's Dragonball is an excellent
example of drastically changing a story but not losing a single mark of
quality in the transition. Little Goku soon became a grown man with awsome
fighting abilities (he's still dumb as a rock, though) as well as a husband
and father of two. Later issues of Dragonball introduced dozens of incredibly
powerful characters, such as Freeza, Cell, and Majin Boo. The stories changed
from quaint adventures to all out slug fests done in now-classic Toriyama
style. Dragonball is a fierce series with some terrific action and
some of the best fight scenes you'll ever see.
